After months of campaigning, local Liberal Democrats are delighted that Independent-run Central Beds has agreed to put health facilities back into this year’s budget for the Council.
Liberal Democrat Councillors have been campaigning for months to persuade the Independents to commit to working with the NHS to get urgently needed healthcare facilities for our residents.
Residents have endured years of broken promises on healthcare, with health facilities promised but never delivered as Leighton Buzzard has grown.
Councillor Emma Holland-Lindsay used a recent debate at Full Council to urge Central Beds to be a ‘campaigning council’ and to send the NHS a strong message that more health facilities are needed for our communities.
Councillor Holland-Lindsay said “This announcement is welcome progress in our ongoing campaign to get the healthcare services our residents desperately need.
“We are delighted that the Independent-run administration has listened to our strong feedback that it must commit to playing its part and working in partnership with the NHS.”
“Our residents are clear though that the time for talk is over, and we need real action to end the years of broken promises on health that we have endured under the Conservatives.”
